Midway Park 2025

Don’t hold it against me when I tell you that the story of Midway Park, and in fact all of Pacific Ridge, has to do with the airport. πŸ˜€ But when people wonder how/why Des Moines expanded east beyond Pacific Highway, well… like pretty much everything in Des Moines. There’s a story, more than there was some ‘master plan’.

Like so many things in Des Moines that look like nothing changes, even though there is constant change, Midway Park is evolving. The Community Garden, which was a point of pride before COVID, is now gone. But so are the derelict properties on the western side. The RAVE sports court has gotten some upgrades (including a cool mural). The new playground equipment is great.

The park is also looking a lot tidier than in years past. It took many, many community clean-ups for that to ‘stick’ a little. Since then, the City has obviously done a ton of good things.

We currently have a planΒ to take the space to the next level – which is important because the area gets, hands down, the largest amount of ‘kid traffic’ in the City.
